Job Summary: The "Advanced Care Practitioner” for Cardiology provides specialized, advanced cardiovascular care to patients under the supervision of a cardiologist, including diagnosing and managing conditions like heart failure, hypertension, and coronary artery disease, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, educating patients, and collaborating with the healthcare team; often requiring a Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies with a cardiology focus and relevant clinical experience.

Job Summary: The "Advanced Care Practitioner” for Cardiology provides specialized, advanced cardiovascular care to patients under the supervision of a cardiologist, including diagnosing and managing conditions like heart failure, hypertension, and coronary artery disease, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, educating patients, and collaborating with the healthcare team; often requiring a Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies with a cardiology focus and relevant clinical experience.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Patient assessment and diagnosis, conducting comprehensive cardiovascular assessments, taking medical histories, performing physical exams, interpreting diagnostic tests like EKGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests to diagnose cardiac conditions.
- Treatment planning; developing individualized treatment plans for patients with cardiovascular diseases, including medication management, lifestyle modifications, and referral to specialists when necessary.
- Patient education; providing detailed information to patients about their cardiac conditions, treatment options, medication adherence, and lifestyle changes to manage their health.
- Collaboration with physicians: Working closely with cardiologists to discuss patient cases, receive guidance on complex situations, and ensure coordinated care.
- Clinical documentation; maintaining accurate and detailed medical records, documenting patient encounters, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and Certifications:
- Completion of an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program with appropriate certification exams.
- Has and maintains current Physician Assistant license with the North Carolina Medical Board or Nurse Practitioner license with the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Must have or be eligible for a DEA license.
- Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required.
- BLS for healthcare provider from AHA or American Red Cross required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.
- Completion of Hepatitis B Vaccine and Flu Vaccine Form will be required. Candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
- Completion of TB test will be required.
Experience:
- 1+ year of experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift and support weight of 35 pounds.
- Ability to concentrate on details.
- Use of computer for long periods of time.
