Privacy Compliance Coordinator
 
General Job Summary:
This role is responsible for supporting and the organization's adherence to all federal and state privacy and security regulations, particularly the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and investigating potential concerns involving the appropriate use and disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI) and electronic PHI (ePHI).

(This is a full time position that will support our team at SouthPark Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm)
 
Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and respond to privacy related incidents, including preparing responses to patients, involving department leadership, and supporting timely reporting to relevant authorities. Maintain accurate records of investigations and activities.
  • Contribute to developing, implementing, and maintaining HIPAA privacy related policies and procedures. Assist leadership with continuous enhancement of privacy policies and processes, including providing best practice and workflow guidance.
  • Contribute to conducting on-going privacy risk assessments; perform semi-annual HIPAA walk-throughs at all locations; perform gap analyses to identify and mitigate privacy and security risks; work with leadership and operational stakeholders to develop plans to address identified risks.
  • Support internal and external privacy and security audits and reviews to assess compliance.
  • Develop and deliver effective privacy and security training and educational sessions to all team partners.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state privacy laws and HIPAA regulations and serve as an expert advisor on Information Privacy and Security guidelines.
  • Represent the Privacy team on assignments for both internal and external meetings on matters regarding privacy and security as directed by leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Privacy program and operations.

Requirements:
 
Education, Experience and Certifications.
 
  1. Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field; 6-7 years of experience in healthcare privacy or compliance.
  2. Experience working with sensitive and confidential information and projects.
  3. Ability to analyze information and construct an action plan created to resolve issues effectively and cooperatively.
  4. Proficient in MS Office, with strong skills in Outlook, Word, and Teams
  5. Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
  6. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  7. Attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  9. Professional appearance and customer service-oriented mindset
  10. Strong organizational and planning skills
 
Physical Requirements.
  1. Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  2. Ability to concentrate on details.
  3. Use of computers for extended periods of time.
