General Job Summary: Position is responsible for performing duties and providing specialist histotechnical services for Mohs micrographic surgery. This position requires a high degree of precision, critical thinking, and efficiency in preparing tissue specimens while supporting surgeons in a collaborative clinical environment.

General Job Summary: Position is responsible for performing duties and providing specialist histotechnical services for Mohs micrographic surgery. This position requires a high degree of precision, critical thinking, and efficiency in preparing tissue specimens while supporting surgeons in a collaborative clinical environment.
(This is a part-time position that will support the Dermatology team at SouthPark)
Primary Job Responsibilities/Tasks may include, but not limited to:
- This position requires a high degree of precision, critical thinking, and efficiency in preparing tissue specimens while supporting surgeons in a collaborative clinical environment
- Prepare and cut frozen sections from tissue specimens using Mohs surgical techniques
- Process and embed excised tissues to ensure optimal preparation for histological evaluation
- Perform histological staining techniques to prepare laboratory slides accurately
- Assure quality control of slides and maintain compliance with laboratory standards and protocols
- Document all processes in accordance with the Mohs procedure guidelines and laboratory policies
- Interact with patients and clinical staff in a friendly and professional manner
- Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and instruments
- Maintain a safe and sterile laboratory environment while adhering to OSHA and CLIA regulations
- Complete additional tasks as assigned to support the laboratory operations
Requirements:
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or a related field is required.
- Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnologist (HTL) is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Mohs histotechnology is advantageous.
- Proficient in laboratory techniques with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Able to work effectively both independently and within a team setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift and support weight of 35 pounds.
- Ability to concentrate on details.
- Use of computer for long periods of time.
